Fri 2 May – Mon 5 May	Stratford Shakespeare in Music Festival An exciting inaugural event: Daytime talks and recitals in the Guild Chapel, evening concerts: 2 May in the Mason Croft Hall, 3 May in Holy Trinity Church and 4 May in the Town Hall. Talks (4) by Prof. Michael Dobson, Dame Jane Glover, Clive Francis and Kay Hamilton. Recitals (7) by Wells Madrigal Singers, William Drakett with Quilter’s songs, VOCES8 with Charles Dibdin’s Garrick Jubilee; Stratford Chamber Choir with motets by Byrd and Tallis; Chris Kent with Gamal Khamis (piano) reciting Venus and Adonis, with Mendelssohn’s Songs without Words. Also Royal College of Music students on original instruments: “Music that Shakespeare might well have heard” and an organ improvisation “From Greensleeves to West Side Story”. A specially composed score by Artistic Director David Le Page to accompany the iconic 1923 silent comedy ‘Safety Last!’ There will be a performance of a short set inspired by the film; after a brief interval the screening with live score will begin.
